At 33, Adiga is the second-youngest writer to win in the prize’s 40-year history.
He is also the fourth debut novelist and fifth Indian writer to win. Born in Chennai (Madras), he studied at Columbia University and Oxford. A former correspondent for Time, he now lives in Mumbai.
