“Ice Ice Baby” is heading back to the dance floor — thanks to Zumba.
This time, a freshly remixed version of the 1990 Vanilla Ice hit is heading to Zumba classes around the world, thanks to a partnership between the MC and the creators of the music-based fitness craze.
The song is available at digital outlets now, and will reach Zumba students and instructors in the coming days.
“It’s reaching 12 million people basically in a week so hopefully people are going to love it,” Sergio Minski, Zumba director of music, told Billboard. “He understood right away what we have within the platform — we’re definitely a new way of reaching an audience of music lovers.”
The remix, which comes with a newly recorded take on the classic rhymes from Vanilla Ice, arrives alongside a video featuring a Zumba routine that incorporates the rapper’s vintage choreography.

“I showed ’em some moves,” Ice said. “A lot of those moves are some of the old-school moves I used to do back in the day.”
The MC debuted the new version at the 2012 Zumba Instructor Convention in Orlando in August to an audience of thousands.
“The whole crowd was singing the song, every word, as they were doing the routine,” he said.
“Ice Ice Baby” — featured on the 1990 album “To The Extreme” — remains one of the best-selling hip-hop records of all time, but Vanilla Ice hasn’t rested on the success of his breakthrough release. In recent years, he’s recorded new music as well as showcased his home renovation skills in reality show “The Vanilla Ice Project,” and moved into acting, playing himself in Adam Sandler comedy “That’s My Boy.” He’s currently filming the third season of “The Vanilla Ice Project,” as well as a pair of specials for contest winners dubbed “Ice My House.”
“I love showcasing all the new state-of-the-art home features to everybody,” he said. “It’s also good because it inspires people in a bad housing market to say, ‘You know what? I want to live the American dream and I want to decorate my house. I don’t care how much it’s worth, I don’t care how much I’m going to get back out of it — I want to live here.’ It gets people in the right frame of mind again.”
Still, he plans to carve out time for a new album toward the end of the year, and hopes to join Zumba for future convention performances.
“When I do get the opportunity, I’m going to go marinate in the studio,” he said. “I haven’t done anything for a while, so I’m pretty anxious to get in there.”
